I rather like nature programs. Seeing all sorts of animals and scenes that I would probably not otherwise be able to see. Back in the Steve Irwin days, I found saltwater crocodiles rather fascinating. They just seemed so cool, like living fossils from an era when giant reptiles ruled the world. I knew they were terrifying creatures, and would tear my weak and geeky body apart without even blinking. Rationally, that was all something I knew and didn't really question.

Then, one day, I was chaperoning some kids on a field trip to a zoo. That zoo had saltwater crocodiles. That was the very first time I saw those monsters up close and in person. And let me tell you, knowing how huge and dangerous they are, learning about all that from pictures and nature programs? That rational knowledge is nothing on the primal fear and awe you get from seeing those guys with your own two eyes. I looked at them, thinking to myself, "Good lord, I'd bet that even some guns wouldn't be effective against that thing... And if I fell in there with them, I'd be croc poop (croop?) in a heartbeat." It was just so different. Rationally, I already knew how amazing and terrifying they'd be, but it was something else entirely actually being there.

And I'm guessing Hartwig up there is feeling something similar. It's one thing to know they guy is a powerful lich, and it's another thing to see him in action. I would not want to be in his shoes right now.

I think you nailed it. There is nothing like experiencing anything up close and personal.

'K, first thought: Ashface's daggers worked on him and he bleeds - can't they just cut him to pieces? A good wood-chopping axe should do, it's only, who would do it?

Next thought, if they can't do much against his continued well-being, wouldn't bringing him into Pagat Or a bad idea? Yet now, he doesn't know about Pagat Or and when he gets loose with the knowledge of it...
