And there you have it, the reason why you can't just clairvoyance over to the next city to see what's going on there. The way I reason it, every noble family or rich merchant will want to have at least one seer on hand, preferably more. Because if they don't, other families will use that weakness to spy on them. So each seer will probably actively prevent other seers from getting in, and with how many there might be in a city, it acts like that metaphor of a single stick being easy to snap but a bundle being nearly impossible to.

I figure that a powerful enough seer might be able to break past the defenses of a weaker seer, but all other seers would probably sense that. And because none of them want to be targeted like that, a bunch of them will retaliate. And a city's worth of seers all mind-attacking one person? That'll probably melt someone's brain.

So yeah, cities and towns? Clairvoyant no-go zones unless you're allowed in. Out in the wilderness, or in villages though? Sure, a seer could probably find you given enough time, and long-distance communication would probably be possible. In a densely-populated urban area with lots of other seers though? Fat chance.

But the druid got a message through to Orvar. Probably with some help at Orvar's end, but on the other hand, Orvar must avoid falling victim to spying, so he must have defences hired. So I wonder, how could that have worked?

Ah, good question! I should probably have included that in the page. With that many seers, trying to force your way in isn't a good idea, as they're all trying to block spies. However, if you've got a contact in the city, that person can specifically let you, and only you in. Still doesn't let you snoop around though, as you'll only be able to communicate with the one person who lets you in.
